MARWEN INGENIERIA and CREARA, both companies engaged in energy consulting, have joined to form an "energy service company", ie, Energy Service Companies (ESCOs). Such businesses constitute a real innovation in delivering energy services basis. The ESCO’ss are companies that design, develop, install and finance energy efficiency projects, CHP and renewable energy use in order to reduce operating and maintenance costs and improve quality of customer service. They assume the technical and economic risks associated with the project.
Initially, the services of this company called "Creara Marwen, Energy Services”, will be directed to municipalities, but will expand its customer base to businesses and homes, offering the development, design and project finance, installation and maintenance efficient equipment, measurement, monitoring and verification of the savings generated by the projects, and especially, the assumption of project risk.
The legal backing for the birth of such companies is given by the "Activation Plan and Energy Efficiency Savings 2008-2011". One of the measures contained in the Plan is "Market Pulse Energy Services, through Energy Service Companies seeking to optimize the management of energy utilities to recover the investment through energy savings achieved in the medium and long term. This measure is based on the obligation under Directive 2006/32/CE on end-use efficiency of energy and energy services.
